The Jonard Tools BTR-6 Buffer Tube Ringer is a handheld fiber-optic preparation tool that provides quick access to the optical fibers inside loose buffer tubes. It ring-cuts buffer tubes from 1.2 mm to 6 mm in diameter with wall thicknesses from 0.2 mm to 0.5 mm.
The tool uses a factory-fixed hardened steel blade for precise, nick-free jacket entry and long blade life. Operation is simple: squeeze the handles together to open the jaws, place the buffer tube between the jaws, release the handles and rotate the tool around the tube 2-4 times to complete the ring cut. Depending on buffer tube material and wall thickness, more or fewer turns may be needed. Squeezing the handles again opens the jaws to remove the tube.
