The Jonard Tools AST-200 CableSaber is a mid-span access tool for armored and thick-jacketed cables from 4 mm to 28.6 mm (0.157"-1.125") in diameter. The blade can be set longitudinally for slitting or radially for ringing, so a single tool handles both operations when opening a cable sheath for mid-span splicing or drop access.
Jonard specifies the blade as Nickel-Molybdenum Low-Alloy Steel (MIM-4680), a heat-treatable steel that reaches 55+ HRC for high-wear service. The tool measures 7.25" (18.42 cm) long and weighs 0.739 lb (335 g). A replacement blade for the AST-200 CableSaber is offered by the manufacturer.
