The Superior Essex R20483DS1 is a 48 core Dri-Lite® Ribbon Single Armored Series R2D Reduced Water Peak Single-Mode cable. This cable is designed for outside plant (OSP) applications, such as direct buried, lashed aerial, and underground duct installations. It features precision-engineered optical ribbons with low planarity ensuring low splice loss during mass fusion splicing. These ribbons are housed in a gel-free tube containing dry water-blocking elements, which can accommodate up to twenty-four 12- or 24-fiber ribbons. Each ribbon is distinctly identified and enclosed in an easy-peel matrix, ensuring easy ribbon breakout and handling.

The cable also includes a corrugated steel armor layer and longitudinal strength elements for robust mechanical protection - all enclosed in a durable black jacket. Rip cords are available beneath the armor, which allows quick access. This cable is suitable for a variety of network applications and complies with, or surpasses, Telcordia and RDUP standards. The gel-free design helps in reducing labor, installation time, and cleanup.
